If you are a WEN member looking:
- For Career Guidance
- To Develop Skills That Enable Success in the Workplace
- To Expand Your Professional Networks
- For a Safe Place to Share Ideas and Openly Discuss Workplace and Career Issues
Then, you should consider participating in the 2010 WEN Mentoring Program. And, if you are a WEN member with valuable experience in these areas, then WEN asks you to consider sharing your knowledge by serving as a mentor.
The WEN Mentoring Program is based on the concept of Mentoring Circles. The circles meet over an 8 month period in different areas of Houston. This year the program will kick off in April and run through December.
Based on feedback that we received from the 2009 Mentoring Program Survey, this year we are hosting two types of mentoring circles, the Traditional and the Focused. In the Traditional Circles, each group will be assigned 8-10 mentees and 3 mentors. The mentees wil be responsible for selection of the topic for each session. In the Focused Circles, there is a Leader, who will discuss in-depth one or two dimensions of a predefined topic each month.

To be a mentor or a mentee, you MUST:
- Be a WEN member.
- Be able to spend 2-4 hours/month from April 2010 through December 2010 preparing for and participating in the mentoring circle. The time and manner in which each mentoring circle will meet, as well as the topics to be discussed will be negotiated by the mentoring circle.
- Mentees must complete the MENTEE APPLICATION.
All mentors and mentees are highly encouraged to attend the initial WEN Mentoring Orientation Session, where you will meet the other members of your mentoring circle and schedule your first mentoring circle meeting, TBA.
Mentors are critical to the success of the program. If you are a WEN member with skills, experience, or knowledge you are willing to share, we strongly encourage your participation in this rewarding program. This year, we will provide mentors with training and networking opportunity on Thursday, April 8th from 6-8 p.m. at the offices of Shell, One Shell Plaza, 900 Louisiana Street, Lobby Conference Rooms L202 & L203.
